OAK RUN — California Highway Patrol is investigating a non-injury, solo vehicle crash near the unincorporated community of Oak Run after a vehicle plummeted about 50 feet down a steep embankment and ended up in Cedar Creek. The accident happened along Highway 299E, just west of Oak Run Rd., according to a CHP incident log.

CHP was first alerted to the crash around 9:45 a.m., after receiving reports of a vehicle that had left the roadway and plunged about 50 feet down an embankment.

911 callers reported the vehicle ended up in Cedar Creek. Callers also said they could see the occupant out of the wrecked vehicle, described as a small, blue car, and told emergency dispatchers the driver appeared uninjured.

When officials arrived they confirmed finding a vehicle that had lost control and left the roadway, before plummeting down the steep embankment that overlooks the creek below.

The driver was uninjured, according to CHP’s log, and declined medical treatment at the scene.

A tow truck with at least 50 feet of cable was summoned to the scene to attempt to recover the wrecked car from the creek. As of this report the wrecker was still headed to the scene of the crash, which was not blocking the winding, two-lane mountain roadway.

Contacted for information about this accident, CHP dispatchers reported recovery efforts to pull the wrecked car from Cedar Creek are ongoing, but not causing any significant traffic delays at the time of this report.

CHP’s investigation into the cause of the accident is continuing and officials have not released any information regarding the crash or their ongoing investigation.
