BREAKING: Man shot in Lake Elsinore after armed confrontation with deputies
LAKE ELSINORE — Details are beginning to emerge after an officer-involved shooting that happened earlier today in Lake Elsinore. Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit investigators and other sheriff’s officials remain at the scene of this morning’s shooting, that happened in the 3500 block of Raven Dr. near Robin Dr.

This morning’s shooting happened after deputies assigned to Lake Elsinore Police Department responded to several reports of a Hispanic male adult brandishing a weapon, Riverside Sheriff’s Sgt. Chris Willison said from the scene of today’s shooting.
When deputies arrived in the area they spotted the alleged suspect, who immediately fled from them.
“A short foot pursuit ensued,” according to Willison, who explained that when deputies caught up with the fleeing man he “was armed with a weapon and an officer involved shooting occurred.”
The suspect, who has not yet been publicly identified, was transported to an area hospital “in unknown condition at this current time,” said Willison.
Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit and Lake Elsinore PD investigators were summoned to the scene and have assumed the investigation.
No deputies or other citizens were injured during the shooting, according to Willison, who did not specify the type of weapon the alleged suspect was in possession of or any other details regarding the shooting or the department’s ongoing investigation.
Although sources from the scene indicate a woman who rushed to the location of the shooting claimed the man shot by deputies was possibly her son, and the subject involved in an hours-long standoff last Friday night, sheriff’s officials had not confirmed that fact as of this report.
Friday’s lengthy standoff ended with no one in custody after sheriff’s SWAT members stormed a Machado Pines Estates home just to find the residence unoccupied.

According to a woman who rushed to the scene of the shooting, the man shot by deputies was possibly her son, and the subject involved in an hours-long standoff last Friday that ended when sheriff’s SWAT members stormed a home just to find the residence unoccupied.
Sheriff’s officials have not identified the person shot by deputies this morning or confirmed that the man involved in today’s incident was the same man involved in the earlier standoff.
