Wanted felon arrested after PS pursuit ends in Banning

PALM SPRINGS — A wanted felon in a stolen car who led officials from multiple law enforcement agencies on a dangerous pursuit from Palm Springs to Banning Friday morning, Jan. 25, was apprehended after fleeing on foot from the vehicle.

The vehicle chase, which began in Palm Springs, ended in a Banning fast food parking lot when the suspect ran from the stolen vehicle. The wanted probationer was soon located and apprehended a short distance from the restaurant, according to Palm Springs PD officials.

Friday’s incident began about 9: 20 a.m., when a Palm Springs PD K-9 officer spotted “a suspicious vehicle” in the area of N. Indian Canyon and E. San Rafael Rd., PSPD wrote in a social media release after the pursuit and arrest.

“As the officer attempted to drive toward the vehicle, the driver attempted to flee by running a red light,” PSPD explained.

PSPD pursued the vehicle as it traveled north on N. Indian Canyon and then westbound onto the I-10 Freeway. As the pursuit continued west, pursuing officers notified CHP and other area law enforcement agencies regarding the ongoing chase.

The driver of the stolen car, later identified as Adrian Arturo Rosales, 26, of Riverside, eventually exited I-10 at the 22nd St. off ramp in Banning before quickly pulling into the parking lot of a fast food restaurant. After coming to a stop, Rosales fled from the vehicle on foot.

With assistance from CHP and Banning PD, Rosales was located a short distance away and apprehended without further incident.

During their subsequent investigation, PSPD learned the vehicle Rosales fled in had been reported stolen from Riverside Jan. 7.

A records check also revealed Rosales had a felony warrant for his arrest and was on probation.

Rosales was booked into Smith Correctional Facility in Banning on suspicion of committing four felonies and eleven misdemeanors, including possession of a stolen vehicle and felony evading,as well as numerous drug-related charges, his felony warrant, and violation of probation.

Trevor has been married for more than 28 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 15 – but soon to be 16 – grandchildren.
