GOOD HOPE — Officials have identified a man whose lifeless body was found in a culvert in the unincorporated area of Good Hope, north of Canyon Lake, Tuesday morning, Jan. 29. The victim’s body was discovered by passers-by, who called 911 to report the discovery.

Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner officials identified today Rafael Quintero, 29, of Good Hope, as the victim found deceased southeast of the dirt extension of Keystone Dr., near McPherson Rd. and Cakes Pl.

Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit and Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station investigators are continuing to investigate the victim’s murder and their investigation is ongoing.

Man’s lifeless body pulled from Lake Elsinore

Deputies assigned to Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station were dispatched to the area shortly before 8:30 a.m., after receiving a report of a dead body, Riverside Sheriff’s Sgt. Ben Ramirez later explained.

When deputies arrived the 911 caller directed officials to a culvert, where “they located a deceased male with obvious trauma,” said Ramirez.

Deputies secured the area as a crime scene and contacted Central Homicide Unit and Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station investigators, who responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. They were assisted by members of the department’s Forensic Services Bureau, who were later seen documenting, photographing, and collecting evidence from in and around the area where the man’s body was discovered.

Officials have not yet made positive identification of the victim; and citing their active investigation, have not released any further information or details regarding their murder investigation, which is active and ongoing.

Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 28 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 15 – but soon to be 16 – grandchildren.
