Oak Run man found shot to death, SCSO investigating

OAK RUN — Authorities are investigating the murder of a Shasta County man who was found fatally shot yesterday, in the unincorporated mountain community of Oak Run, about 35 miles east of Redding. The man’s lifeless body was discovered on the 15000 block of Stagecoach Rd., near Frontier Rd., Thursday afternoon, Feb. 7.

Yesterday’s murder was the second Shasta County homicide in as many days, after an Anderson man fatally shot his friend and roommate with a shotgun during an argument in the Happy Valley area. That suspect, later identified as 34-year-old, Michael Patrick O’connell, was arrested the evening of the shooting and remains in custody on a first-degree murder charge.

Although few details have been released, Shasta County Sheriff’s Office confirmed today that deputies found the victim, identified as 44-year-old, Oak Run resident, Gregory Donald Galusha, around noon, after responding to a report of a man found laying face down on the dirt road.

When deputies arrived they found Galusha’s body and confirmed he had already succumbed to his injuries, described as at least one gunshot wound.

Based on the circumstances, detectives from Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit responded to the scene and assumed the murder investigation.

Officials have not released any suspect information or possible motive for the deadly shooing, but have said they are actively investigating the murder and searching for the alleged shooter.

He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 28 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 15 – but soon to be 16 – grandchildren.
