Warrant uncovers underground bunker, shooting range
FONTANA — Members of Fontana PD’s SMASH – or Gang – Unit serving a search warrant at the home of a known gang member were surprised when their search uncovered an underground bunker last night, Thursday, Feb. 7.
The well lit and ventilated bunker was accessed through a man hole in the floor, had storage areas stocked with weapons and ammunition, and even featured an underground shooting range.

“Numerous weapons were located, along with thousands of rounds of ammunition. Including a 100 round drum for an AR-15 rifle,” Fontana PD wrote in a social media release, that indicated the suspects were arrested and booked without incident.
In a Facebook post, Fontana PD had strong words for other gang members and would-be criminals, writing, “We will never give up on keeping our community safe and free of violence. We are the champions at Hide n Seek and no man hole will help you.”
“If you hide we will find you. If you run you will go to jail tired,” FPD continued. “If you do crime in our city, we will hunt you in the pursuit of justice for our community.”
In their “friendly message,” FPD “strongly recommended” that aspiring criminals “put as much effort as you did in your underground cave, into becoming a productive member of society. You will thank us later for this advice.”
