Deputies assigned to Lake Elsinore Police Department, with assistance from a Murrieta PD K-9, responded to the Walgreens just after 1:30 a.m., after receiving the report of a possible commercial burglary in progress, Riverside Sheriff’s Sgt. Glenn Warrington said after the arrest.
Deputies arrived within minutes of the dispatched call and spotted a man, later identified as John Murray Anderson, 23, of Lake Elsinore, exiting the Walgreens. Deputies detained Anderson without incident and soon discovered he was in possession of over $900 of merchandise taken from the closed business. Deputies later returned the stolen merchandise to Walgreens.
After Anderson’s apprehension, Murrieta PD’s K-9 was sent into the business to search for any additional suspects, but found none.
Based on their investigation, deputies arrested Anderson and he was later booked into Cois Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta on suspicion of Commercial Burglary and possession of a prohibited weapon. Jail records indicate he remains in custody in lieu of $10,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned at Murrieta’s Southwest Justice Center, Mar. 5.
