Juveniles rescued, one hospitalized, after accident on popular Menifee trail
MENIFEE — Two juveniles had to be rescued from a remote Menifee trail early Friday evening, Mar. 1. One of the two victims was hospitalized with moderate injuries after the remote area rescue, that took place in the hills southwest of Scenic View Dr. and Keller Rd.
The popular riding and hiking trail has been the site of other recent remote area rescues, including one that resulted in the death of a Menifee mountain biker, February, 2017. That victim collapsed while riding after suffering a medical crisis. Despite life-saving efforts, the man passed away on the trail.
LEADING THE RCNS HEADLINES:
UPDATE: Man arrested after fatal Hemet stabbing
More than a dozen Cal Fire/Riverside County firefighters, along with Murrieta Fire & Rescue, AMR, Riverside Sheriff’s Department, and other emergency personnel, were dispatched to the scene around 5:30 p.m., after receiving reports of two juveniles who had fallen from their bicycles while riding on the remote and difficult to access trail.
When officials reached the two young victims they found one who had sustained moderate, but unspecified injuries. He was subsequently carried off the trail to a waiting ambulance and was transported to an area hospital. His current condition has not been updated.
Paramedics evaluated the second victim, who did not require further medical treatment and was later released to his parents.
Officials have not released any further details about the accident.
