Man arrested after Lake Elsinore DUI hit and run
LAKE ELSINORE — A Lake Elsinore man who officials say fled on foot after crashing his car into another vehicle was eventually apprehended and arrested, after deputies located him a short distance from where the collision occurred early Friday morning, March 15.

Deputies assigned to Lake Elsinore Police Department responded to the area of Diamond Drive and Interstate 15 about 1:25 a.m., after receiving reports of a hit and run traffic collision, Riverside Sheriff’s Sgt. Glenn Warrington explained after the man’s apprehension.
Deputies arrived within minutes of the dispatched call and learned a vehicle “was traveling at a high rate of speed westbound on Diamond Drive, failed to stop for the red light at the southbound off ramp intersection, and collided with another vehicle,” said Warrington.
After the collision the driver, who was later identified as 34-year-old, Vincent William Jaso, fled from his wrecked and disabled vehicle and was last seen running westbound on Diamond Drive.
The occupants of the other vehicle were not injured in the crash and did not require further medical treatment, according to Warrington.
Deputies immediately began searching the area and soon located Jaso about a half-mile away, running northbound on Auto Center Drive toward the auto dealerships. Deputies gave chase and were quickly able to apprehend the fleeing man.
“Mr. Jaso had injuries consistent with being the driver of the vehicle which caused the traffic collision,” Warrington explained. “The driver also displayed the objective symptoms of being under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and or drugs.”
Based on their investigation, deputies arrested Jaso and he was booked into Cois Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta on suspicion of driving under the influence and hit and run.
Jail records indicate Jaso was cited and released within hours of his arrest. He is scheduled to be arraigned at Murrieta’s Southwest Justice Center, May 15.

Trevor has been married for more than 28 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 15 – but soon to be 16 – grandchildren.
