Elsinore sex offender nabbed after cutting off ankle monitor

LAKE ELSINORE — A registered sex offender is back behind bars today after authorities tracked him down and arrested him, yesterday afternoon, Thursday, March 21. Deputies began searching for the man after learning he had cut off his court-ordered GPS ankle monitor. The alleged suspect was apprehended without incident in the area of W. Graham Ave. and N. Langstaff St., according to sheriff’s officials.

Deputies assigned to Lake Elsinore Police Department received information yesterday at 12:20 p.m., that a 43-year-old registered sex offender, Jared Elijah Hamilton, of Lake Elsinore, had removed his GPS ankle monitoring system in violation of his parole, according to Riverside Sheriff’s Sgt. Sergeant Ray Ricken.

After Hamilton’s information was broadcast, patrol deputies and special teams members immediately began searching for the out of compliance sex registrant.

About 25 minutes later, deputies assigned to the city’s Problem Oriented Policing Team spotted Hamilton near a bus stop in the 300 block of Graham Ave. He was taken into custody at 12:45 p.m., without incident, said Ricken.

Hamilton was booked into Cois Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta on suspicion violating his parole. Jail records indicate he remains in custody and is being held without bail.

Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 28 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 15 – but soon to be 16 – grandchildren.
