City of Hemet Police and Fire Departments, along with AMR and other emergency personnel, were dispatched to the scene around 10:40 a.m., after receiving reports of the solo-vehicle crash. 911 callers reported the driver was still sitting inside the wrecked SUV and could not tell if the woman was injured.

When officials arrived, they found the victim’s family had already arrived at the scene. Family members had already moved the vehicle off the sidewalk and away from the tree; however, the vehicle sustained major front-end damage and could not be driven any further.

Paramedics evaluated the driver, who reported a bump to her head and other minor complaints of pain, but was otherwise uninjured. She did not require further treatment and was not transported.

Officers investigating the cause of the crash learned the driver was on her way to get gas when she made a left turn onto Menlo, lost control, and drove over the curb and smashed into the tree.

Hemet PD’s investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
