CHP officers dispatched to the solo-vehicle crash found an overturned vehicle that was abandoned and unoccupied.
Investigating officers learned that when they arrived at the scene, two of the vehicle’s occupants ran into nearby woods and hid from them.
“The CHP officers on the ground requested H-16 to search the area,” CHP’s Northern Division Air Operations later reported on social media. “H-16 was able to locate the two suspects shortly after arriving at the scene by using our thermal imaging camera which detects body heat.” The men were spotted hiding amidst dense trees and foliage, north of the nearby highway.
H-16’s crew members directed officers on the ground to where the two were hiding and they were subsequently taken into custody without further incident. Officials did not specify what the two men were arrested for.
