Following their investigation, investigators arrested Michelle Kathlyn Pardes, 67, of Corona. She was was booked into Cois Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta on suspicion of elder abuse-theft by a non-caretaker, identity theft and other related charges, Riverside Sheriff’s Sgt. Brett Seckinger said after today’s arrest.

The sheriff’s investigation began last December when a deputy assigned to the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of financial elder abuse of an 85-year old victim.

During their investigation, deputies determined “the victim had suffered an approximate loss of $34,000 in cash and property,” Seckinger explained. Deputies developed several leads and forwarded the case to the Lake Elsinore Station Detective Bureau for further investigation.

On April 18, “after extensive follow-up investigation involving search warrants for bank records, and residences, the suspect was arrested at her residence.

“The financial losses suffered were not recovered,” said Seckinger.

This investigation is continuing and anyone who may have additional information is encouraged to contact Lead Investigator Michele Huskey at the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station at (951) 245-3300.
