Redding probationer arrested after SINTF investigation

REDDING — Shasta Interagency Narcotics Task Force agents arrested a Redding probationer after a search of the man’s residence and property uncovered multiple weapons, ammunition, narcotics, and a ballistic vest. The search that led to the man’s arrest happened Monday evening July, 22, on WindSong Lane, off Old Alturas Rd. south of SR-299E.

At around 6:30 p.m.,  agents with the Shasta Interagency Narcotics Task Force went to the WindSong Lane residence to conduct a probation compliance check on Eric Scott Brown, 35, of Redding, SINTF officials reported after the incident and Brown’s arrest.

“Brown is currently on felony probation for a firearm related offense,” explained SINTF. “Brown failed to make his presence known upon initial contact, but was later found inside a travel trailer and detained.”

While searching the travel trailer where Brown was found hiding, SINTF agents discovered “a large quantity of ammunition in many different calibers,” SINTF reported. Agents also found methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and numerous firearms along with their holsters and cases.

“Based on Brown’s probation status and consent from the property owners, a more thorough search was conducted,” explained SINTF officials

During their search, agents then found a total seven firearms; including four rifles, two shotguns, and a revolver. Agents also discovered and seized additional ammunition, and a ballistic vest.

Agents later determined that one of the recovered firearms was stolen, while several others had the serial numbers obliterated and removed.

Based on their investigation, SINTF agents arrested Brown and he was later booked into Shasta County Jail on suspicion of possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of ammunition by a felon, possession of a ballistic vest by a felon, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

“SINTF will also be filing additional charges against Brown,” according to officials.

Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 28 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 15 – but soon to be 16 – grandchildren.
