One dead, two injured in Home Gardens crash
HOME GARDENS –One person was killed and two others were injured after a car crashed into a tree late Friday evening, Aug. 23. The deadly, solo-vehicle accident happened in the 12700 block of Magnolia Ave., west of Lincoln St., in the unincorporated community of Home Gardens.

California Highway Patrol and Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department, along with City of Corona Fire Department and AMR, were dispatched to the scene of the crash around 11 p.m., after receiving multiple reports of a vehicle that had crashed into a palm tree. 911 callers reported three people trapped and seriously injured inside the mangled wreckage of their vehicle.
When officials arrived they found a dark-colored Subaru WRX with major damage that had smashed into a large tree.

Firefighters quickly confirmed two of the vehicle’s three occupants inside the wrecked sedan were trapped and firefighters used the “Jaws of Life” to perform an extensive extrication to free the victims from the destroyed vehicle.
After being pulled from the wrecked Subaru, two of the victims were transported to an area hospital with injuries Cal Fire later described as moderate. The third victim was transported to an area hospital in critical condition and later succumbed to their injuries.
The victim who died in the crash has not yet been publicly identified, pending further investigation and notification of the person’s family.
CHP is investigating the cause of the fatal crash and working to determine if excessive speed and/or intoxication were contributing factors in the accident. Their investigation is ongoing.

During his time with the sheriff’s department, Trevor worked at several different stations; including Robert Presley Detention Center, Southwest Station in Temecula, Hemet/Valle Vista Station, Ben Clark Public Safety Training Center, and Lake Elsinore Station; along with other locations.
Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.
Trevor has been married for more than 28 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 15 – but soon to be 16 – grandchildren.
