One injured, juvenile dead after Highgrove shooting
HIGH GROVE — Authorities are investigating after two people were shot, including a juvenile who passed away, at two different locations about a block apart in the unincorporated community of Highgrove, east of Jurupa Valley and north of Riverside Thursday, Oct. 3.
No arrests have been made in the deadly shootings, which happened at a Chevron gas station and convenience store at Iowa Ave. and Center St., and on La Cadena Dr., just north of Center St., where the juvenile victim was found fatally shot near a white Infiniti.

Deputies from the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to the parking lot of the business and second location at 6:21 p.m., after receiving reports of a shooting, Riverside Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit Sgt. Rick Espinoza later reported.
When deputies and other emergency personnel arrived, they found two males suffering from gunshot wounds, according to Espinoza.

“One of these males was transported to a local hospital where he received care for his injuries,” Espinoza explained. “The second male was found to be a juvenile and died at the scene as a result of his injuries.”
Neither victim has been publicly identified pending further investigation and notification of the deceased juvenile’s family.
Based on the circumstances, members of Riverside County Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. They were assisted by deputies and investigators from the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station, technicians from the department’s Forensic Services Unit, and coroner’s officials.
Citing their ongoing investigation, officials have not said if any suspects were actively being sought or if there was any known motive for the deadly shooting, with Espinoza saying, “This is an active investigation and no additional details are currently available.”

He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.
Trevor has been married for more than 29 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 15 – but soon to be 16 – grandchildren.
