45 cited, 2 arrested, stolen vehicle recovered, during San Jacinto speed enforcement operation
SAN JACINTO — Speeders, reckless drivers, and even a person driving a stolen vehicle were caught off guard when they were nabbed during a high visibility, speed enforcement operation in San Jacinto yesterday, Wednesday, Oct. 16.
In all, deputies issued a total of 45 speeding tickets – including two for drivers caught driving in excess of 100 miles per hour – during the enforcement operation, which took place on Sanderson Ave. near Ramona Blvd.
Yesterday’s enforcement operation came on the heels of numerous major injury and fatal traffic collisions that have happened in the area over the past few weeks; including a high-speed, head-on collision and rollover accident that happened Oct. 8, a Sept. 28 head-on rollover crash that left a 25-year-old Cathedral City man dead, and another deadly, high-speed rollover crash that killed a Moreno Valley man Sept. 18.

Based on those and numerous other major injury and fatal accidents throughout the San Jacinto valley, many of which involved speeding or reckless drivers, members of the San Jacinto Sheriff Station’s Traffic Enforcement Team spent yesterday morning and afternoon targeting those refusing to travel at safe speeds or illegally and dangerously passing other motorists who chose to obey the posted speed limits throughout the area.
During the operation deputies stopped countless drivers, ultimately issuing 45 speeding tickets; including two people caught driving at 107 and 104 mph, according to a San Jacinto Sheriff’s Station social media release.
Additionally, two drivers were cited for driving on suspended licenses, one was cited for driving without a license, one was arrested for delaying an officer during a traffic enforcement stop, and another was arrested after he was found to be driving a stolen vehicle and in possession of an illegal weapon.
A total of three vehicles were towed during the successful traffic enforcement operation.
San Jacinto sheriff’s deputies say many other similar enforcement operations are planned for the future and in their social media release reminded area motorists “to please slow down and get to where you are going safely.”
