Deputies from the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station and other emergency personnel responded to the scene just after 12:30 a.m., after receiving reports of a major injury traffic collision, Riverside Sheriff’s Sgt. Brian De Marco said after the deadly collision.

When deputies arrived they found the downed motorcyclist with his damaged bike nearby the vehicle he struck.

Despite life-saving efforts, the motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries and passed away at the scene, according to De Marco.

Although officials have not yet identified the motorcyclist killed in yesterday’s deadly crash in Moreno Valley, friends and family of the man they knew as “Keke” have created a gofundme account to raise money for burial and other expenses. Nelder family photo/gofundme.com

Officials have not released the rider’s name, pending further investigation and notification of the person’s family. However, friends and family of the deceased rider have identified the man as “Keke” and have created a gofundme account to help raise burial funds for their lost loved one.

Based on the circumstances, members of Moreno Valley Station’s Traffic Reconstruction Team responded to the scene to conduct “a full investigation into the cause of the collision,” explained De Marco.

During their subsequent investigation, deputies learned the motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on Alessandro Blvd. when a westbound vehicle turned south into a driveway, directly in front of the rider. The motorcyclist was unable to stop in time and slammed into the side of the other vehicle, whose driver remained at the scene of the crash and was reportedly cooperating with the sheriff’s investigation.

As their investigation continued, deputies called for the temporary closure of Alessandro Blvd., between Day and Elsworth streets. The roadway remained closed for several hours and was re-opened shortly before 5 a.m.

The victim’s family has said a candlelight vigil will be held tonight at dusk for “Keke,” near where the accident occurred on Alessandro Blvd. and Ellsworth St.

“All that can make it would be appreciated,” wrote one grieving family member.

Anyone with further information about this investigation or who witnessed the collision and has not yet provided a statement to officials is encouraged to contact Deputy Galbreath at the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station at (951) 486-6700. Callers can refer to incident file number MV192920007 and can remain anonymous.

This is a developing story that will be updated as new information is available.
