REDDING — Authorities are investigating the shooting of a woman after she and a friend reportedly changed their minds while attempting to purchase marijuana early Sunday morning, Nov. 25.
The woman, who suffered a grazing gunshot wound to the arm, told officers the shooting happened near the intersection of Heather Ln. and Foxtail Ct. in Redding, according to officials.

Redding police officers responded to the scene around 1 a.m., after receiving a 911 call from a person reporting his friend had been shot by an acquaintance during a drug deal gone wrong, Redding Police Corporal Rob Garnero reported after the incident.
Responding officers quickly located two victims, a woman and man who have not been publicly identified, who reported they had been shot at by a pair of men who fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival.
“The victims stated they had arranged to buy marijuana from the driver but later changed their minds,” explained Garnero.
As the deal to purchase the marijuana fell apart the passenger in the suspect’s vehicle became irate and revealed he had a handgun. The man then demanded the victims’ money before firing one round at them.
The female victim was struck and grazed in the left arm by the fired round and sustained non-life-threatening injuries, according to Garnero.
Despite searching for the pair involved in the shooting and following up on leads throughout the evening, officers were unable to locate the suspects, who have not been publicly identified.
Based on the circumstances, investigators have assumed the investigation, according to Garnero; who said some information regarding the case is being withheld as the investigation continues.
Anyone with information regarding this investigation is encouraged to contact the Redding Police Department at (530) 225-4200. Callers can refer to incident file number 19R077652 and can remain anonymous.
