MURRIETA — Officials say a suspect was fatally shot after a traffic stop led to a pursuit that covered numerous streets in the French Valley and Murrieta areas this morning.
Although very few details have been released, Murrieta PD explained in a series of social media releases that the incident began as a traffic stop in the area of Murrieta Hot Springs Rd., before the alleged suspect fled from officers, leading them on a pursuit that wound its way through several communities.

The pursuit eventually came to an end on Jefferson Ave., between Grizzly Ridge and Mandra, where officials continue to work at the scene.
Witnesses reported that after the incident an armored tactical rescue vehicle could be seen next to a white pickup truck, that appeared to have either crashed or been run off the road. A yellow tarp could be seen blocking the view of the alleged suspect’s body, near the passenger door of a white pickup truck.
Officials are expected to hold a press conference soon, at which time they have said they will be releasing more information and details related to the deadly incident.

Original Story: Traffic stop, pursuit, stand-off, lead to Murrieta road closures
MURRIETA — A traffic stop, pursuit, and ongoing stand-off have led to an hours-long incident and “active investigation” that officials have described as “a very fluid situation”, this morning, Thursday, Jan. 2.
This morning’s dangerous and ongoing incident has led officials to closing down numerous Murrieta streets including Murrieta Hot Springs Rd. and Jefferson Ave., with officials urging area residents to avoid the area.

Authorities first alerted area residents to the situation in a series of social media posts that began shortly after 9:30 a.m., when Murrieta Police Department urged motorists to avoid Murrieta Hot Springs Rd., between Winchester and Margarita roads.
Officials explained the road closure was due to an active investigation involving Murrieta PD officers, along with Riverside County Sheriff’s Department and CHP personnel.

A short time later, Murrieta PD updated that the agencies were now involved in a pursuit that eventually wound its way through the western half of the city before coming to a stop once again on Jefferson Ave.
At around 10:15 a.m., MPD updated that the pursuit had ended; however, in an updated social media release reported there was still an active investigation in the area of Jefferson Ave., between Grizzly Ridge and Mandra.
“This is a very fluid situation and (we) will update as soon as possible,” officials said in their update.
At around the same time Murrieta Fire and Rescue Department tweeted that emergency crews were at the scene, and that several streets in the area remained closed.
Residents who live where the incident is happening reported seeing heavily armed SWAT members arriving in the area in armored tactical rescue vehicles, as the incident continued.
As of this report, no further details were immediately available.

Trevor has been married for more than 29 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 16 grandchildren.
