Anderson stop leads to meth, heroin, other drugs

ANDERSON — An Anderson traffic stop led to the discovery and seizure of a substantial quantity of methamphetamine, heroin, and prescription drugs and the arrest of a man they allege to have been selling the illicit narcotics, Sunday evening, Jan. 5.

According to officials a police K-9 was instrumental in the discovery of the drugs found during the traffic stop, which happened on Balls Ferry Rd.

Last night’s traffic stop was conducted shortly before 9:45 p.m., when an Anderson police officer spotted a vehicle with an equipment violation.

After stopping the vehicle the officer learned the driver, Xaivier Dave Speare, 26, of Redding, had a suspended driver’s license. During a subsequent pat-down search, the officer discovered Speare was in possession of illegal metal knuckles.

During the stop, Anderson PD K9 Iro was summoned to the scene to conduct a sniff of Speare’s vehicle at which time the service dog alerted to the presence of illegal drugs inside the driver’s side door.

While searching the suspects vehicle, officers located illegal drugs concealed within the driver’s door panel; which had to be removed to gain access to the drugs.

After removing the door panel, officers found 21.7 grams of methamphetamine, 3.8 grams heroin, illegal prescription drugs, a digital scale, and two methamphetamine smoking pipes, officials said in a social media release after the stop and arrest.

Based on their investigation, officers impounded Speare’s vehicle and Speare was later booked into Shasta County Jail on suspicion of possession and transportation of methamphetamine with the intent to sell, possession and transportation of heroin with the intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of metal knuckles, and driving on a suspended license.

Trevor has been married for more than 29 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 16 grandchildren.
