Seven arrested in ongoing Anderson burglary investigation

ANDERSON — Anderson PD officials yesterday announced the arrest of seven people after a victim spotted his stolen classic car being listed for sale on social media. According to officers, the man who originally stole the vehicle had been offering the car to women online and trying to trade the vehicle for sexual favors.

Officers had been investigating the vehicle theft since a January residential burglary in Anderson and say more than $70,000 in property and vehicles were recovered after officials served search warrants at two Redding locations.

Anderson Police Department first began investigating the burglary Jan. 30 according to officials; who yesterday reported that during the burglary a 1970 Pontiac Firebird, 1991 Honda Civic, and property valued at more than $40,000 was stolen from inside and outside the victim’s residence.

As officers were continuing their investigation, the burglary victim spotted his stolen Firebird listed for sale on Facebook Market Place and reported the listing to officials.

Anderson PD arrested seven people while investigating a residential burglary that happened in Anderson in January. Based on the social media posting, officers were able to determine the location of the stolen Pontiac and on Feb. 3, officers served a search warrant at a residence on Terrill St. in Redding.

During the service of the search warrant, officers found and recovered the stolen car and also located additional evidence regarding other possible locations where stolen property may be located, according to officials.

As a result of the search warrant, officers arrested three people; including 48-year-old Redding resident, Michael Hartman; 41-year-old, Redding resident, Jeremy Dutcher; and 29-year-old Anderson resident, Derek Clark.

Based on the officers’ investigation, Hartman was determined to be the seller of the stolen vehicle, according to officers. He was found in possession of a forged bill of sale for the Pontiac and was arrested for forgery and violating the terms of his probation.

Additionally, Dutcher was determined to be in violation of the terms of his probation and Clark, who was found hiding underneath the residence, was found to have active felony warrants for his arrest.

As the burglary investigation continued, on Feb. 5 officers served a second search warrant at a residence on Churn Creek Rd. in Redding.

During the service of the second search warrant, officers located and recovered the victim’s stolen 1991 Honda Civic along with more than $5,000 of the victim’s stolen property.

Three more suspects, including 55-year-old, Keith Mcquilliams, of Redding; 34-year-old, Tara Hayley, of Redding; and 24-year-old, Joseph Singleton, of Redding; were arrested as a result of this search warrant, according to officers.

Mcquilliams admitted to trading for the stolen Honda and property and was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. While being interviewed, Mcquilliams admitted he was suspicious the vehicle and property were stolen. He was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of stolen property, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Hayley admitted to trading for the stolen Honda and was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. During her statement to officers she also admitted to being suspicious the vehicle was stolen. She was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of stolen property, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and violating the terms of her probation.

Singleton was arrested after officers found him to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also charged with violating the terms of his probation.

Based on those two search warrants, officers developed leads and gathered information that helped them identify Robert Gregorio Jr., 31, of Cottonwood, as the person who originally burglarized the Anderson residence.

On February 11, officers arrested Gregorio, at which time they located additional evidence on the alleged suspect’s phone supporting he had burglarized the victim’s residence on at least two occasions.

Based on their investigation and findings, officers arrested Gregorio for two counts of burglary, two counts of possession of a stolen vehicle, and possession of stolen property.

Through the investigation, officers determined Gregorio attempted to give away the victim’s stolen property via Facebook to various females; some of whom he allegedly propositioned for sexual favors in exchange for the burglarized property.

Anderson PD’s investigation is ongoing and officials are seeking the community’s assistance in retrieving any stolen property that may have been given or sold to them by Gregorio.
