BREAKING: Firefighters battling Montgomery Creek vegetation fire

MONTGOMERY CREEK, Calif. — Fire officials are at the scene of a vegetation fire burning in the area of SR-299E near Webster Lane in Montgomery Creek.

Firefighters were first alerted to the growing blaze, which appears to be burning south of Oak Run Lumber, around 6:15 p.m., according to official radio traffic at the time.

Within minutes of their arrival in the area, officials requested additional resources to the scene, including more engine companies and water tenders, as well as dozer and hand crews.

Area residents have reported seeing a visible column of smoke billowing high into the early evening sky and a battalion commander at the scene has reported that the fire has already burned two acres and that the flames are continuing to move up the mountain near Webster Way.

As of this report, firefighters were continuing to battle the blaze, while additional resources were continuing to arrive, with more headed to the scene.

Trevor Montgomery, 48, moved in 2017 to the Intermountain area of Shasta County from Riverside County and runs Riverside County News Source and Shasta County News Source. Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 29 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 16 grandchildren.
