Driver air-lifted after Hemet rollover

HEMET, Calif. — A Hemet driver was airlifted with major injuries after a solo-vehicle rollover accident in the area of W. Stetson Ave. and Warren Rd. Tuesday morning, May 19.

The crash happened the same day CHP – San Gorgonio Area Station officials issued a statement imploring area residents to use common sense and obey all rules of the road in the wake of a deadly week of fatal and major injury crashes throughout the San Jacinto valley and surrounding communities.

Some of the crashes that led to CHP’s safety notification include a 50-year-old Temecula woman who was killed after officials say she failed to stop for a posted stop sign; a Riverside head-on crash that killed two women, ages 19 and 63; a DUI crash that killed a 27-year-old San Jacinto passenger and seriously injured the intoxicated driver; and a 17-year-old girl who was killed when she and another victim were ejected from an SUV that officials say was fleeing the scene of a minor crash in the Badlands.

Those deadly incidents were followed over the last weekend by at least three other deadly accidents investigated by CHP – San Gorgonio Pass Area officers, including a fatal, fiery wreck involving a pickup truck that slammed head-on into a semi-truck, and two deadly off-road accidents in Anza and in Bee Canyon, east of Hemet, that ended with two men dead and another with major injuries

City of Hemet Police and Fire personnel were dispatched to the crash around 9:50 a.m., after receiving reports of a single-vehicle rollover.

911 callers reported the driver of the car was injured and trapped inside his wrecked sedan.

When officials arrived they found a white car with major damage in a dirt field adjacent the roadway. Firefighters reported the driver and sole-occupant was still trapped and requested additional resources to the scene to assist with traffic control and the driver’s extrication.

Based on the driver’s injuries a Mercy Air Ambulance was summoned and the victim was eventually transported by ground ambulance to Hemet-Ryan airport, where they were transferred to the air ambulance and flown to Riverside University Health System in Moreno Valley.

The victim’s condition was unknown as of this report.

Hemet PD is investigating the cause of the crash and their investigation is ongoing.

Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 29 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 16 grandchildren.
