BURNEY, Calif. — Firefighters are continuing to work at the scene of a residential structure fire that ripped through a Burney home this afternoon.

Although the blaze destroyed the home, which was built in 1948 according to family members of the victims, the fire has been knocked down by firefighters who responded to the scene from throughout the Intermountain area.

Although an air ambulance was initially requested to the scene for a juvenile that was possibly burned in the fire, the helicopter was later cancelled after all the children from the home were located and accounted for.

Family members of the victims have since reported that everyone from the home, including at least two juveniles, managed to escape the burning residence; and official radio traffic indicated that no injuries have been reported.

Officials have yet to comment or provide any details regarding what may have sparked the destructive blaze, and as of this update, firefighters remain at the scene working on hot spots and overhaul of the destroyed structure.

This is a developing story that will be updated as new information is available.

Original Story: BREAKING: Home, fully engulfed, burning in Burney

BURNEY, Calif. — Few details are available and firefighters are at the scene of a structure fire that erupted at a Burney home around 2 p.m. this afternoon, Tuesday, June 9.

The blaze that tore through the home has reportedly knocked out power and most Internet service throughout the area of the fire, which is burning on the 20000 block of Hudson St., between Siskiyou and Main streets, according to witnesses and official radio traffic.

Some witnesses have reported that the fire is burning at a white, two-story home at the end of Plumas St.; however, that has not yet been confirmed.

Early reports indicate the structure is fully engulfed and that power lines are down, and area residents are reporting no Internet service. However it is not yet known if the blaze was the cause of the loss of power and service throughout the area.

Along with multiple engine companies and other emergency personnel from throughout the Intermountain area, a Cal Fire spotter plane – Air Attack 110, can be seen circling the blaze from above.

Although an air ambulance was initially requested for a juvenile with possible burn injuries and was launched to a nearby landing zone, the helicopter was cancelled and recalled after all the children from inside the residence were located and accounted for.

At 2:51 p.m., firefighters at the scene reported the blaze had been knocked down and that fire personnel were continuing to work at the scene on potential hot spots and overhaul.

No information is available yet regarding possible injuries or what may have started the blaze.
