Anderson traffic stop leads to Redding man’s drug arrest
ANDERSON, Calif. — Authorities say a probationer was arrested during an early morning traffic stop in Anderson today, Friday, July 10, after officers found he was in possession of methamphetamine and items typically used during the sales of narcotics.
The alleged suspect, who has since been identified as Mark Anthony Toms, 44, of Redding, was already on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) probation for possession of a controlled substance while armed with a loaded firearm when he was arrested early this morning.
In an unrelated Anderson incident, officers last night arrested an Oregon man and National City, CA man after APD’s K-9 Aero sniffed out approximately two pounds of meth during an Anderson traffic stop.

During the stop, the officer learned Toms was on probation and conducted a search of his vehicle, in accordance with the terms of his probation.
During that search, officers and deputies discovered approximately one ounce of methamphetamine on the floorboard of Toms’ vehicle.
“It was determined that Toms had attempted to destroy the methamphetamine prior to being stopped, in order to avoid police detection,” explained officials; who said a functioning digital scale and packaging typically used for the sales of narcotics were also located inside Toms’ vehicle.
