Beaumont PD and California Highway Patrol officers were investigating reports of a man threatening to jump from the I-10 Freeway overpass at Beaumont Avenue around 7:45 p.m., when they received a 911 call reporting a man brandishing a knife at a nearby business in the 400 block of E. 6th Street, according to a Beaumont PD release.

When officers from the two agencies arrived in the area, they found an adult male in the intersection of 6th Street and Beaumont Avenue. The man was armed with two large knives and refused officers’ orders to drop the weapons or comply with the commands.
