Deputies from Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Perris Station responded to the scene about 1:36 p.m., after receiving reports of a major injury traffic collision, Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Hibbler has since reported.
“Deputies arrived within minutes and located a collision involving a green 1994 Oldsmobile Bravada and an unknown female pedestrian,” said Hibbler, who did not provide the victim’s age or any further information about her, pending further investigation.
Officials found the pedestrian had suffered major injuries and life saving measures were performed; however, the victim succumbed to her injuries and passed away at the scene.
While emergency personnel were trying to save the victim’s life, neighbors who witnessed the deadly collision rushed to the scene and told deputies where the driver was.
With witnesses help, deputies soon located the driver, 22-year-old, Josephlindo C. Honesto, and detained him for further investigation.
He was later transported to the Perris Sheriff Station for questioning about the accident, while members of the Perris Station’s Traffic Reconstruction Team responded to the location and assumed the investigation.
