Crushed between two trucks, one dead after Mead Valley crash

MEAD VALLEY, Calif. — One person was killed and two others were hospitalized after a multi-vehicle wreck involving a Riverside County Transportation Department vehicle Friday afternoon, Jan. 22.

The fatal collision happened in the area of Harvill Avenue and Rider Street, west of Interstate 215, in Mead Valley, according to officials.

California Highway Patrol, Cal Fire-Riverside, and other emergency personnel were alerted and responded to the crash around 3 p.m. 

When officials arrived they found three involved vehicles, described as an orange Riverside County Transportation Department pickup truck, a dark-colored sedan, and a red pickup truck.

Officials found the sedan had been crushed between the two trucks, leaving the driver and sole-occupant critically injured and trapped inside their vehicle.

Paramedics determined the driver of the sedan sustained major injuries as a result of the collision and ultimately passed away at the scene.

The victim’s name has not been released pending notification of their family.

Both other drivers were injured and transported by ground ambulances to Riverside University Medical Center in Moreno Valley for further treatment. Their injuries were described as moderate.

The ensuing investigation forced the temporary closure of northbound Harvill, which was reopened after the wrecked vehicles were cleared from the scene.

CHP’s investigation into the cause of the fatal crash remains under investigation.

He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 30 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 18 grandchildren.
