On Jan. 25, deputies assigned to the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station’s Special Enforcement Team (SET) assumed an investigation into a reported embezzlement from an unspecified business in the 3300 block of Dulles Drive, Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Armendariz said after the arrest.

“The compiled information obtained from the criminal reports, coupled with follow-up investigative leads revealed employees of the business were shipping stolen property to numerous locations throughout the cities of Pomona and Fontana,” said Armendariz.

Oscar Sandoval, 27, was arrested after an embezzlement investigation and multiple search warrants revealed the Fontana man had been involved in the theft of thousands of dollars worth of snowboards and snowboarding clothing and equipment, skateboards and skating attire, t-shirts, and other clothing, along with other items from a Jurupa Valley business.

As their investigation continued on Feb. 5, SET members served search warrants in the 9600 block of Alder Ave and 1400 block of Chaparral Ave in the city of Fontana, as well as a location in the 300 block of East Phillips Blvd in the city of Pomona.

During the service of those search warrants, deputies located and recovered numerous stolen snowboards, skateboards, snowboarding boots, tennis shoes, and more than two hundred t-shirts, along with miscellaneous skate and snowboarding attire, according to Armendariz.

“These items were identified as items linking suspect(s) to the embezzlement during the search warrant,” Armendariz explained.

Based on their investigation, Oscar Sandoval, 27, of Fontana, was arrested and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside on suspicion of embezzlement and conspiracy to commit a crime. The conspiracy allegation indicates that one or more additional suspects were possibly involved in the embezzlement and thefts and additional arrests could be made as the sheriff’s investigation continues.

Online jail records indicate Sandoval was cited and released within hours of being booked into jail and is no longer in custody. He is scheduled to be arraigned at the Riverside Hall Of Justice on May 17.
