Arizona woman, 67, ID’d after fatal Desert Center rollover crash

DESERT CENTER, Calif. — Authorities say an elderly Arizona woman was killed in a solo-vehicle, rollover crash in Desert Center Wednesday evening, May 19. The deadly crash happened on the eastbound I-10, about one and a half miles east of Eagle Mountain Road, according to officials.

California Highway Patrol, Cal Fire-Riverside and other emergency personnel were dispatched to the crash around 9:40 p.m. after receiving reports of a rollover accident with a vehicle on its side.

When officials arrived they confirmed one person had already succumbed to their injuries and passed away.

Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner officials have since identified Guadalupe Medina-Marquez, 67, of Glendale, Arizona as the victim killed in the crash. A coroner’s release indicated the woman was pronounced deceased at 10 p.m.

It was not immediately known if the victim had been driving the vehicle that overturned or if she was a passenger in the vehicle.

Another victim was transported to an area hospital with injuries Cal Fire described as moderate.

CHP – Indio is continuing to investigate the cause of the accident.

Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 30 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 18 grandchildren.
