Deputies assigned to the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station and other emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene around 11 p.m. after receiving reports of a major injury traffic collision involving a motorcycle rider, Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Brad Foster has since reported.
“Deputies and Cal Fire arrived within minutes and located a single motorcycle that had struck a curb and light pole, ejecting the rider,” Foster explained. “The rider was pronounced deceased at the scene by Cal Fire paramedics.”
Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner officials have since identified Abraham Rodriguez, 56, of Lake Elsinore, as the rider killed in the crash. A coroner’s release indicted he was pronounced deceased at 11:11 p.m.
The Lake Elsinore Traffic Collision Reconstruction Team responded to the scene to investigate the fatal crash and determined Rodriguez was traveling eastbound on Railroad Canyon Road at a high rate of speed just before the crash. Evidence at the scene indicated he lost control of the motorcycle and collided with a curb and light pole.
“It is still being determined if alcohol and or drugs were a factor in the collision,” said Foster; adding that the Sheriff’s investigation is continuing.
