At just after 9 p.m. last night, a deputy from the Shasta County Sheriff’s South County Patrol Station was stopped at a red light at the intersection of Highway 273 and Clear Creek Road, Shasta County Sheriff’s Sergeant Kyle Wallace has since reported.

After the deputy’s light turned green and he began to enter the intersection, a silver Nissan Armada failed to stop at the red light and nearly smashed into the deputy’s marked patrol vehicle.

“The deputy had to take emergency evasive action to avoid a collision with the vehicle,” Wallace explained; saying the Nissan failed to stop and continued southbound on Highway 273.

The deputy conducted an enforcement stop, with the vehicle yielding near the intersection of Westside Road and Highway 273, just north of the Win-River Casino.

As the deputy approached the vehicle, he saw a large amount of marijuana throughout the vehicle and contacted 48-year-old Rebbecca Lyons, from Shasta Lake City, who was the sole occupant of the Nissan.

During a subsequent search of the vehicle, deputies located the narcotics, cash, paraphernalia, and other evidence that Lyons was involved in the sales of the narcotics.

Based on their investigation and findings, deputies arrested Lyons and she was later booked into the Shasta County Jail in Redding on suspicion of transportation of a controlled substance for sales, possession of methamphetamine for sales, possession of methamphetamines, transportation of a dangerous drug for sales, possession of a dangerous drug for sales, possession of a dangerous drug, transportation of marijuana for sales, and possession of marijuana for sales.

Online jail records indicate Lyons has since been released from custody.

All of the narcotics, currency, and other items that were seized were later booked into the Shasta County ID lab as evidence.
