Redding felon arrested after traffic stop yields loaded firearm and ammo

REDDING, Calif., — A Redding felon spent a few hours in jail after a traffic stop uncovered a loaded handgun, ammunition, and drug paraphernalia early Monday morning, March 21.

At around 1 a.m., officers with the Redding Police Department conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a Buick sedan in the area of Lake Boulevard and N. Market Street after noticing that the vehicle had expired registration tabs, Redding Police Sergeant Ortega has since said of the traffic stop and arrest.

Upon contacting the driver, Duncan Devine, 33, of Redding, officers noticed drug paraphernalia sitting in plain view inside the vehicle, and Devine admitted to being in possession of a loaded firearm.

During a subsequent search of Devine’s vehicle, officers located a loaded Fegarmy PA-63 Makarov 9×18 pistol, numerous rounds of 7.62x39mm ammunition, two pistol holsters, a 30-round rifle magazine, and drug paraphernalia.

As a convicted felon, Devine is prohibited from possessing firearms and/or ammunition and officers arrested him without incident.

Devine was later booked into the Shasta County Jail in Redding on suspicion of carrying a loaded firearm in a vehicle, Being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Online jail records indicate he has since been released and is no longer in custody.

He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 30 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 18 grandchildren.
