Yreka City Clerk arrested – Victims sought, after hundreds of child porn images found
YREKA, Calif., — Authorities in Mt. Shasta say a child pornography investigation has led to the arrest of a Yreka man after a forensic evaluation of his computer uncovered hundreds of explicit images depicting children of different ages engaged in a variety of sexual activities.
The alleged suspect, 39-year-old Arthur Franklin Timothy Boyd, is the City Clerk for the City of Yreka, but he has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of Mt. Shasta PD’s investigation.
Based on information located during a warrant search of Boyd’s computer, officials say they believe there could be many unidentified victims of sexual assault(s) and/or illicit contact(s) with minors who may live throughout the area.

On Feb. 18, Mt. Shasta police officers began an investigation into Boyd’s online activities after receiving a tip regarding his possible possession of child pornography, according to officials, who did not specify where the tip came from.
Based on the information provided, officers sought and obtained a search warrant and seized a computer that was in Boyd’s possession. It was not immediately clear if the computer in question was Boyd’s personal computer or one he used for his work while employed as City Clerk.
The computer was then turned over to members of the Sacramento Valley Hi-tech Crimes Task Force to conduct a thorough forensic examination.
Arthur Franklin Timothy Boyd, 39, of Yreka, was arrested after officials discovered hundreds of child pornography images on his computer. He has since been placed on administrative leave from his position as Yreka City Clerk, pending the outcome of Mt. Shasta PD’s investigation.
On March 30, Mt. Shasta PD learned that the forensic evaluation had revealed there to be approximately two-hundred photographs depicting the sexual abuse of children of different ages “who were seen engaged in a variety of sexual activit(ies)”, said officials.
Two days later, on April 1, Mt. Shasta and Yreka PD officials executed an arrest warrant and second search warrant at Boyd’s Yreka home, where they arrested him without incident.
Boyd was later booked into the Siskiyou County Jail on suspicion of possession of child pornography, but online jail records indicate he has since been released.
As reported by KRCR, in addition to his current position as Yreka’s City Clerk, Boyd has also worked as the City’s Municipal Project Manager since August 2019.
Boyd was also the Committee Chair for the Boy Scouts of America as recently as September of 2021, and his social media accounts and other sources indicate he has been volunteering for the Boy Scouts of America since September of 2015, where he worked as an Assistant Scoutmaster and Cubmaster.
“I was shocked…I would never have expected it,” Yreka City Councilmember Corey Middleton told KRCR. “I understand he has been placed on administrative leave as per protocol.”
“He has no access to the City Hall and will not be returning to work after our own internal investigation on the matter,” Middleton continued.
