Three Hemet Residents Seriously Injured During Violent And Bloody Machete Attack

On Nov. 18 , at about 1:43 am, Hemet PD Dispatch began receiving multiple 911 reports of a fight occurring in the 4100 block of Trevor Ln. Some callers advised a male suspect was armed with a machete and he was swinging it around wildly at people in the area. Callers advised one or more victims had been seriously injured during the attack.
According to a press release from the Hemet Police Department, the suspect, identified by police officials as Robert Otto Carter, a 26-year-old resident of Corona, reportedly attacked a number of victims at the location before fleeing northbound on Meridian from Trevor Ln.
Officers quickly located a victim down on the sidewalk. According to witnesses on scene at the time of the attack, the victim was bleeding profusely from substantial head and hand injuries.
The press release from the police department indicated the victim’s wounds appeared to have been inflicted by a sharp-edged cutting instrument.
Responding officers soon located a crime scene as well as two additional victims, inside an apartment, in the 4100 block of Trevor Ln.
According to the press release, none of the victim’s injuries appeared to be life threatening. All three victims received medical treatment at the scene by emergency first responders and all three were later transported to local area hospitals for further treatment and evaluation.
The press release from the police department stated the incident began when Carter learned was being asked to leave the apartment where he had been staying for a short time. This act of being “kicked out” caused Carter to begin attacking the victims inside the apartment with a machete.
While some Hemet Police officers secured the scene of the crime and assisted medical personnel in seeing to the medical needs of the victims, another officer located a male matching the suspect’s description walking in the 4200 block of E. Florida Ave.
When stopped by officers, they discovered Carter had blood covering his hands and clothing from the attack. Additionally, the machete Carter used in the violent and bloody attack was found nearby. Carter was later positively identified by the victims as the suspect in the attack.
Carter was arrested and was later booked at Hemet PD for attempted murder. He was later transported to county jail. Carter’s bail was set at $1,000,000 bail
