VALLE VISTA – In the early morning hours of January 1, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department’s 911 Communications Center received numerous calls regarding several shots heard coming from inside or near a residence in the 24000 block of Tigris Lane in the unincorporated community of Valle Vista.

A family member from the residence where the shots had been heard fired called 911 to report they had been shot with an assault-style rifle and the suspect had retreated back into the residence. The caller reported other family members were still inside the residence at the time and that their status was unknown.

Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Hemet Station responded to the residence, as did additional officers, a K9 handler and a tactical vehicle from the Hemet Police Department. Because of the circumstances related to the call, the Riverside Sheriff’s Emergency Services Team (SWAT) responded to the residence as well.
