Three arrested during Shasta, Lassen and Modoc County burglary investigations

On Tuesday, 2/23/16, staff from the Hatchet Mountain Windmill Project reported a burglary to their office building and equipment yard, located at 19400 Bunchgrass Lookout Road, in Burney. During the initial report, staff reported approximately $70,000 of property stolen, including a 2015 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup valued at $48,500. The responding deputy took fingerprints and collected potential evidence.

On Wednesday, 03/02/16, deputies from the Modoc County Sheriff Office recovered several items stolen from the burglary in the Lookout community of Modoc County. Modoc County deputies arrested Clinton Randall Bell (39 years old) of Lookout for possessing stolen property. Approximately $15,000 worth of stolen property was recovered at Bell’s residence.

Deputies had also learned of two other potential suspects, Abraham Womack (36 years old) of Adin and Brent Blue (29 years old) of Bieber. Both Blue and Womack were found to have unrelated active arrest warrants. Law enforcement officers from the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office, the California Highway Patrol, and the United States Forest Service attempted contact with Blue and Womack at an address off of Old Cemetery Road, in Bieber. When law enforcement arrived Blue fled on foot. With the assistance of Shasta County K-9 “Blitz,” Blue was located and was taken into custody without incident. Blue had felony warrants out of Shasta and Modoc counties, with a bail of approximately $250,000. Blue was transported and booked into the Lassen County Jail for the warrants.

On Thursday, 03/03/16, deputies from Lassen and Shasta counties responded to Womack’s parent’s residence, located on Punkin Center Drive, in Bieber. Deputies were able to locate more stolen property from the Windmill burglary, but did not locate Womack. At approximately 4:00 p.m., Womack was reported as being at Bell’s residence in Lookout, along with the stolen pickup from this burglary. Deputies responded and detained Womack without incident. The stolen pickup was located to the rear of the property, and was found to have false plates on it. Womack was arrested on his warrants and the vehicle was recovered.

The Shasta County Crime Lab processed the evidence of this case, and obtained several print matches linking Womack to the burglary. Womack was later booked into the Shasta County Jail for commercial burglary, possessing stolen property, and two active misdemeanor warrants.

The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office would like to think the Modoc County Sheriff’s Office, the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office, the United States Forest Service, and the California Highway Patrol for their involvement in helping to solve this extensive case.
