Man shot, woman seriously injured in Riverside attempted murders near UCR

RIVERSIDE – Two people were seriously injured and one is in critical condition after a shooting and assault in the 1400 Block of University Avenue in Riverside Sunday, August 7. The location of the attempted murders is only two-tenths of one mile from the University of California Riverside campus.

The Riverside Police Department’s Communications Center received several calls at about 2:37 a.m. from citizens reporting hearing multiple shots fired.

 

Officers arrived in the area within minutes and located an adult male in a parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers also located an adult female in the same parking lot who was suffering from multiple blunt force injuries from being assaulted.

Paramedics treated both victims at the scene before they were transported to a local hospital. The male’s condition has been listed as critical but stable. The female victim is in stable condition.

The investigation is ongoing, according to Riverside Police officials.
