DESERT HOT SPRINGS: Firefighters spend over an hour battling residential blaze

DESERT HOT SPRINGS – Firefighters spent about one and one half hours battling a residential blaze Monday, Dec 2. The fire happened in the 66000 block of Desert View Avenue in Desert Hot Springs.

Fourteen firefighters from four engine companies responded to the fire about 5:10 a.m., according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Public Information Officer Tawny Castro. They were assisted by a breathing support unit.

The first arriving engine reported a single-family residence well involved with fire.

Southern California Edison personnel were summoned to the location to shut down utilities to the residence while firefighter fought the blaze.

The fire was contained to the structure about 6:34 a.m., according to Castro. No victims were displaced by the fire.

There were no reported injuries to citizens or firefighters, Tawny reported.

Fire officials are investigating the cause of the fire.

Trevor Montgomery spent 10 years in the U.S. Army as an Orthopedic Specialist before joining the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department in 1998. He was medically retired after losing his leg in an off-duty accident.

Trevor has been married for more than 26 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and has 13 children and 12 – soon to be 13 – grandchildren.
