THOUSAND PALMS: La Quinta resident arrested for theft of golf cart

Deputies arrested James Brown for grand theft after investigating the theft of a golf cart.

THOUSAND PALMS – A La Quinta resident was arrested Thursday, Dec. 29, after an investigation into the theft of a golf cart.

The golf cart was stolen from Hillcrest Drive, inside the gated community of Montecito Estates Wednesday, Dec. 14.

Deputies  from the Palm Desert Sheriff’s station investigated reports of a theft of the golf cart. During their investigation, deputies developed leads and information that led to the arrest of 34-year-old James Brown for the theft, according to Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Jorge Ramirez.

The stolen golf cart has been described as a blue and white, 1970’s Cushman. The golf cart has not yet been located sheriff’s officials believe that the golf cart could be in the Thermal or Mecca area, according to Ramirez.

After a two-week investigation, Brown was identified, located, and arrested in Thousand Palms. Brown was booked at the Riverside County Jail in Indio.
