Hemet Fire and Police officials responded to the accident after City of Hemet emergency dispatchers received several calls from other motorists reporting the collision. Callers advised the driver of one of the vehicles was trapped inside his SUV.

When emergency first responders arrived at the scene they located two vehicles, described as a white BMW SUV and a white Honda sedan, that had collided. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage and were left blocking the roadway.

Firefighter/paramedics confirmed one of the drivers was trapped and required a cut and rescue operation to be freed from his wrecked SUV.

While officers investigated the accident and directed traffic around rescue personnel, firefighters used the “Jaws of Life” to extricate the injured man from his vehicle.

After the trapped driver was rescued from his SUV, AMR medics transported him to an area hospital for further evaluation and treatment. His injuries were listed as moderate.

The other driver was evaluated and treated at the scene and declined further medical treatment.

Hemet PD is investigating the cause of the collision; however, wet weather and rain-slicked roads were considered to be contributing factors in the accident.
