TEMECULA: Menifee resident arrested after allegedly shooting at vehicle

TEMECULA – Deputies arrested a Menifee resident for assault with a deadly weapon after the man allegedly fired a weapon at a motorist, Saturday, March 11. The shooting, which struck a vehicle, happened in the area of Calistoga Drive and Murrieta Hot Springs in an unincorporated area north of Temecula.

Andre Alvarez was arrested after he allegedly shot at and struck a vehicle.

After an investigation, deputies arrested 21-year-old, Andre Edwin Alvarez. He was booked into the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta.

Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Southwest Station responded to the area about 5:50 p.m., after receiving reports of a firearm being discharged in the area, Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Russell Hilton explained in a press release March 16.

When deputies arrived they located and spoke to a victim, who reported a man had shot at and struck his vehicle.

Deputies confirmed the victim’s vehicle was struck by a single bullet, according to Hilton. Officials did not specify how many rounds were fired during the incident.

During their investigation deputies identified Alvarez as the alleged suspect.

Deputies conducted a thorough search of the area; however, they were not able to locate the suspect at that time.

Deputies located Alvarez later that evening, at a residence on Gill Street in an unincorporated area of Murrieta.

Based on their investigation, deputies arrested Alvarez.

An online jail records search revealed Alvarez was released the day after his arrest, after he posted $25,000 bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned at the Southwest Justice Center May 5.
