Officials have not released the name or position of the staff member involved in the alleged incident, which police say was captured by at least one person who filmed the encounter and later turned the footage over to school officials who provided the recording to detectives.

Because the case also involves a juvenile, no information regarding the student will be released, according to police officials.

The investigation into the alleged assault began after Beaumont Unified School District officials notified Beaumont PD detectives regarding the incident that reportedly involved the staff member “punching” a student. According to police officials, detectives were “given a copy of the video and opened an investigation into the allegation.”

“The investigation is active and ongoing, no arrests have been made in this case,” Beaumont PD officials explained in a social media release.

Police detectives are also seeking additional potential victims, writing, “We would also ask that if any other students feel that they may have been victimized to also contact the Police Department.”

The revelation of the battery investigation came within hours of Beaumont Police officials announcing another incident and investigation involving Beaumont Unified School District that began this morning, Thursday, Oct. 12.

Today’s incident began after a 911 caller reported seeing two white, male juveniles dressed in camouflage clothing and wearing body armor sitting inside a stopped car along N. Highland Springs Avenue north of Oak Valley Parkway in Beaumont. According to the caller, the two were spotted in an older, white Toyota Camry, and were believed to be in possession of at least one rifle.

The location where the two were spotted is about three miles from Beaumont High School and is also within close proximity to a number of other area schools.

With assistance from a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s helicopter searching overhead, Beaumont PD officials searched the surrounding area and stationed officers at “each of the (Beaumont Unified School District) school sites, according police officials.

Although authorities were not successful in locating or identifying the two subjects and are handling the incident as a “suspicious circumstances,” their investigation into the incident is active and ongoing and officials have requested any relevant information be relayed to police officials immediately.

Police officials have asked parents, students or other staff who may have witnessed the assault or have additional information about either incident to come forward and contact Beaumont Police Detective Steward at (951) 769-8500.
