Cal Fire/Riverside County firefighters and Riverside County sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of a commercial vehicle fire about 2:17 a.m.

When they arrived, officials reported finding a semi-truck that was fully engulfed in flames in the northbound lanes of traffic on Etiwanda Avenue. As firefighters began fighting the fire they updated that flames and smoke were pouring from the truck’s engine compartment and that the blaze was threatening the truck’s trailer.

Firefighters made a quick and aggressive fire attack and quickly extinguished the blaze.

While firefighters extinguished the fire and cleaned up diesel fuel and oil that had spilled onto the roadway, deputies temporarily blocked northbound Etiwanda Avenue at Inland Avenue.

The roadway was re-opened after firefighters were finished at the scene.

There were no reported injuries related to the fire and the cause of the blaze is under investigation.
