SJ motorcyclist, 28, dead after vehicle pulls out in front of rider
HEMET — A San Jacinto motorcyclist died Sunday morning, Oct. 7, after a passenger vehicle pulled out in front of the rider, causing a two-vehicle crash. The deadly accident happened on to 100 block of S. San Jacinto St. near Morton Place, one block south of Florida Ave.
Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner officials later identified Marco Antonio Martinez, 28, of San Jacinto, as the man killed in the collision. According to a coroner’s release, he succumbed to his injuries after being transported to Hemet Valley Medical Center and was pronounced deceased about 45 minutes after the crash, at 11:39 a.m.

City of Hemet Police and Fire Departments, along with other emergency personnel, were dispatched to the crash about 10:54 a.m., after receiving multiple reports of the collision, Hemet Police Lt. Eric Dickson later explained in a press release.
Marco Martinez, 28, died after crashing into a passenger vehicle that pulled out in front of him Sunday morning.
When officials arrived they found the critically injured rider down in the roadway. A passenger vehicle with driver’s side damage and motorcycle, described as a blue and gray Harley-Davidson, were in the roadway nearby.
Paramedics treated Martinez at the scene before AMR rushed him to Hemet Valley Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
A 73-year-old San Jacinto woman from the other involved vehicle was also injured and transported to the same hospital for further treatment.
During their subsequent investigation, officers determined Martinez had been traveling southbound on San Jacinto St. just before the deadly crash. At the same time, the other motorist was traveling east on Morton Place toward San Jacinto St.
“The driver of the car pulled out from a stop sign in front of the motorcycle, attempting to turn left onto San Jacinto Street,” said Dickson. “The motorcyclist was unable to stop and collided into the driver’s side of the vehicle.”
While officers investigated the cause of the crash, they called for the temporary closure of San Jacinto St., between Florida Ave. and El Nita Ln. The road was reopened about three hours later at the conclusion of the initial on-scene investigation.
At this time, DUI is not suspected to be a factor in this collision and Hemet PD’s investigation is ongoing, according to Dickson.

Martinez leaves behind a wife and four small children, ages 8, 3, 2, and 1, along with other “devastated” family members and “many friends who loved him,” the man’s family said in a GoFundMe account set up to help offset burial costs and other expenses.
“He was a hard working father who provided for his family and he had a smile that could light up a room,” the fundraiser, which had raised nearly $1,400 during its first day, explained. “He will be dearly missed.”
