Motorcyclist suffers major injuries after two-vehicle Cottonwood crash

COTTONWOOD — A motorcyclist suffered major injuries after a traffic collision with a van this afternoon, Monday, Oct. 15. The crash happened near Chevron Gas Station on Main St., northeast of Bowman Rd. and I-5, according to a CHP incident log.

CHP, Tehama Cal Fire, and other emergency personnel, were dispatched to the scene shortly before 1:30 p.m., after receiving reports of a motorcyclist hit by a white, full-size van. 911 callers reported the rider was thrown over the van and that the van ended up on top of the motorcycle.

When officials arrived they found the motorcyclist still down in the roadway with the van and motorcycle blocking the southbound lanes of Main St., and CHP called for the temporary closure of the southbound lanes of Main St. while officials worked at the scene.

The rider was eventually transported by ground ambulance to an area hospital in unknown condition. It was not immediately known if anyone from the van was injured.

Officers eventually reopened the roadway just before 2 p.m., and have not yet released any information regarding their ongoing investigation.

Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 28 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 14 – but soon to be 16 – grandchildren.
