Happy Valley man arrested after roommate shot in chest during argument

HAPPY VALLEY — Authorities investigating a disturbance that led to a shooting at a Happy Valley residence yesterday morning, Saturday, Oct. 20, arrested the alleged shooter for attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon. The victim, who was shot in the chest, sustained non-life threatening injuries, according to officials.

The disturbance and shooting happened on the 5400 block of Pine St., between Bonnett Ln. and Palm Ave., in the rural, unincorporated community located south of Redding.

At the conclusion of their initial investigation, Shasta County sheriff’s deputies arrested 23-year-old, Teezar Brady, after he allegedly admitted he shot his roommate during an argument. He was later booked into Shasta County Jail, where he remains in custody on $500,000 bail.

The sheriff’s attempted murder investigation began shortly before 8:45 a.m., Saturday morning, after an unidentified person called 911 and reported a disturbance between roommates at the Happy Valley residence.

While deputies were still responding to the home, Teazar Brady called 911 and updated SHASCOM dispatchers that he had just shot somebody, who was later identified as 24-year-old, Dalton Brousseau-Tracy.

At about the same time, Brousseau-Tracy called 911 and reported he had been shot and was on his way to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Responding deputies contacted Teezar Brady and his girlfriend Rachael Walker at the Pine St. residence. Deputies also found the shooting victim and his girlfriend Annette Brady at an undisclosed Redding hospital.

It was not immediately known how or if Teezar Brady and Annette Brady are related, but all four subjects live at the Pine Street residence together, SCSO later explained.

During their subsequent investigation, deputies learned Brousseau-Tracy and Annette Brady became involved in a verbal argument at the residence.

As the situation escalated, Teezar Brady heard the argument and fearing for Annette Brady’s safety retrieved a 9mm handgun from a safe inside the residence.

After arming himself, Teezar Brady confronted Brousseau-Tracy and a brief struggle ensued during which Teezar Brady allegedly shot the other man in the chest.

After being shot, Brousseau-Tracy and Annette Brady fled from the home and headed to the nearest hospital to receive medical treatment. The injured man is expected to survive and make a full recovery.

Deputies later collected the handgun used in the shooting and arrested Teezar Brady for his part in the shooting.

Officials have not specified what the original argument was about and their investigation is ongoing.
