When officials arrived they found a white sedan, described as a Hyundai XG300, stopped in a parking lot.

An elderly woman who had been driving the car and a man who had been riding a silver mountain bike were nearby, as were several witnesses who had stopped to render aid to the bicyclist and comfort to the distraught driver.

Officers investigating the collision determined the accident happened when the elderly driver pulled out of a parking lot onto Franklin St., and the front of her sedan collided with the bicyclist. The woman explained to officers the man and bike had been in her blind spot and she had not seen them until it was too late to stop.

The cyclist complained of pain to his right side and the man’s mother responded to the scene and later transported him to Hemet Valley Hospital for further treatment.

The elderly driver was reportedly shaken by the crash but uninjured.

Hemet PD is investigating the cause of the minor-injury collision and their investigation is ongoing.
