One injured in 299E “T-Bone” crash in Lassen County

One person sustained minor injuries this morning after a pickup truck pulled out onto Highway 299E and was struck broadside by a vehicle that had been traveling along the rural, two-lane highway. The accident happened just east of mile marker 21.00, between the unincorporated communities of Beiber and Juniper Junction, in Lassen County.

The crash was just one of three injury accidents along a 60-mile stretch of 299E within the last 24 hours, including a rollover crash that resulted in the death of a 20-year-old, Fall River Mills woman and another rollover crash near Montgomery Creek. All three crashes remain under investigation by CHP.

CHP-Susanville and other emergency personnel responded to the scene of the collision around 6:30 a.m., after a man called 911 and reported he had just “T-Boned” another vehicle, later described as a silver or grey Dodge Ram pickup truck with four occupants.

Although both vehicles were reportedly off the roadway, CHP reported eastbound traffic was backing up slightly as vehicles slowly worked their way past the scene of the crash.

Although the driver who reported the crash had complaints of pain from his chest hitting the steering wheel, it was not immediately known if the man was transported for further treatment.

The four occupants from the Dodge were not injured in the crash according to a CHP incident log, which indicated both vehicles were later towed from the scene.

Officers from CHP’s Susanville Area Office are investigating the cause of the crash and their investigation is ongoing.

Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 28 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 14 – but soon to be 16 – grandchildren.
